Government Jobs

By: Brian G Chadra

Writing a resume for a government job is different from that of a normal employer. The U.S. government is one of the largest employers in the world and takes a unique approach in their hiring process. Minorities and handicapped people are urged to apply since they are not discriminated against. In this way, the best possible candidate can be evaluated and hired regardless or race, creed or color.

Now assuming you already know a bit about constructing a resume, let's focus on the area of most concern: the education area. Believe it or not, the U.S. government places a larger premium on your educational background than your actual work experience.

This is not to say that your previous job experience is not important, but since many of these positions require analytical skills, a fresh thinker is often more advantageous than one who is used to do things a certain way. Looking at the postings for government jobs or civil service lends itself to this approach. Many of the positions will accept education in lieu of experience. This is because most college graduates have received the newest theories and training available to date.

It is this valuable commodity that makes a new graduate attractive to Uncle Sam. Be sure that you have your educational background complete and up to date when completing your resume. Make sure that it is emphasize by putting it before the work experience section. You may also wish to include any special academic awards or honors won while in school. Finally, be sure to target the job by placing a few strategic keywords from the advertisement in your job objective. This will ensure that your resume gets noticed by the right people. Good luck!

MBA Jobs

By: Josh Hohman

So you've graduated college, and you've been working for a while, but you want to do something more with your life, something to give it some purpose. The best way, or at least you've been told, is to go to business school and earn an MBA. Since you've always been interested in business, that's what you decide to pursue, the coveted MBA. There's nothing wrong with that dream in the least, but there are a lot of people striving to attain it, which does render it a little harder to get. You're able to improve your odds of being accepted by having a good MBA Recommendation letter, but by good, we don't mean having a letter written by a celebrity, such as an astronaut, cowboy, or rock star. Of course it can't hurt your application, but it can't help either. Celebrity recommendations, got in the exact same pile as all the others, and sometimes they even have to be screened for authenticity, meaning a lot more time before you get accepted into the school of your choice.

You may not know what to write, and that's expected if this is the first time you've applied to business school, so the best thing you can do is look a Sample MBA Recommendation. They're all over the internet, and all you have to do is a simple search, but if you're here then you've already been searching, so here is a decent Sample MBA Recommendation for you to model yours after:

To Whom It May Concern:

It has come to my attention that my esteemed co-worker Corporal Michael Cabot has applied for admittance into your program at the Apalucia Business School. I am writing to offer my full recommendation, for him, as I have known him for many years.

I can tell you that he does his best in every single case, no matter how minute the task is. Whether it's arming the tanks, or setting up tents, he has always done the best he can on this tour of duty, where others have faltered and lost hope.

For those who have lost hope, he has been a source of it. His leadership inspires the men around him, and teaches them to stand on their own, many wishing that they could be like him, and have his confidence. He saved a lot of lives, and even went as far as to put his own safety aside to make sure that others would live to go home and see their families once more.

I know that it was his dream to go to business school, in fact that is the precise reason he joined the armed forces, so that he could acquire the money from the G.I. Bill and make his way through college, leading the life he always wanted.

I can tell you that allowing Michael to attend your fine school would be the right decision, because not only will you get a quality individual, you'll also be accepting someone who fought for his country. There isn't a much better deal than that, and I hope that you will see it that way too.

Sincerely

Sgt. Mark Maddery

There you have a Sample MBA Recommendation. The one that you have written may be longer, though hopefully not shorter, and this one give you an idea of what a university looks for. Make sure your sample MBA letter tells things about you, and the things you have accomplished, and don't be afraid to boast, because everyone else will be boasting too. So good luck, and I hope you've found this Sample MBA Recommendation helpful in getting your actual MBA Recommendation written.

Accounting Jobs

By: Ellis Jackson Jr

Gone are the days that accounting jobs are considered boring and dull. It seem like all you do is sit behind a desk and staring at numbers, statistics and spreadsheets. Now ever since the Enron accounting scandal the focus for accounting jobs and auditors to find accounting fraud have been in very high demand. For that reason it now looks like it's the best college major around.

Since 2005, on the top 10 list of college majors you can find accounting. I fact it was number one. But today it has fallen off the top ten list but look out. Especially now with a bad economy and all the recent company failures like Fanny Mae, Freddie Mac, AIG and more made selecting college majors like accounting a no brainer. Don't be surprised if in the future it will become number one again.

Some people when picking college majors look for the top salary positions first. Now with the big demand for accounting and the lost of jobs that is currently going on students are cashing in on this major in college.

Colleges have been recruiting hard to find more accounting teachers and professors as the older ones retire. It has not been easy since there are more accounting faculties opening up than applicants to fill them. This is why it is still one of the best college majors out there. So if you are planning to go to college and you have been struggling with finding the right major then you might want to think about becoming an accountant.

If not, then here is a list of top ten college majors that you can take a look at created by the Princeton Review.

1. Business Administration and Management: Yes, it seems like most people want to be the boss or at least a high powered executive that makes the big calls and get all the big bonuses and then screw up the company and ask the government to bail them out.

2. Psychology: With this job you can study the way humans and animals interact and how they respond to their environment. You can study their behavior and their thoughts behind it. Just be prepared to go to school for about a total of 9 to 10 years if you want your own private practice.

3. Elementary Education: It seems like people are still interested in shaping the minds of the future generation while they cry and throw up on you. Good Luck!

4. Biology: If you want to know what makes the living tick, then this is for you. But be prepared to study your butt off if you want to make it in this field.

5. Nursing: Hope you have the patience for this one. Get it! You will be tested by all types of people as you play the role of educator, mediator, listener, problem solver, comforter, and therapist as you attend to basic health needs.

6. Education: Unless you have a spouse making good money you better be prepared to have a second job. It may be rewarding to teach the next up in coming president, it will not be rewarding to you wallet. But most people who get in this field can't imagine doing anything else.

7. English: Read, write, discuss, and read some more. Who knows, maybe you can become a writer like the people who wrote the series "Caveman". Well I hope you become better than that for your sake.

8. Communications: With this job you can produce the next late night infomercial telling everybody how to make big bucks while sitting in your underwear.

9. Computer Science: Lets face facts! It's not the meek that shall inherit the earth, it's the Geek that shall inherit the earth. More computers means more computer problems and that means you will have a job for life or until the next big asteroid sends use back to the stone age.

10. Political Science: I guest since George Bush lowered the bar for all future presidents now anybody feels like they have a shot. Even Sara Palin! Not!

Well there you have it. Even though accounting is not one the top ten list anymore you can still be on your way to having a job that is in big demand. Better start picking college majors now before you have to get in line and wait behind all the future accountants.

Finance Jobs

By: Crone Corkill

In the not so long-gone past, many career advisers were advising young people seeking to start out a career to go into finance. The financial markets were doing well then, finance jobs were in plenty and MBA schools were bursting with young students seeking to build a career in finance. And the finance jobs were, of course, not limited to the financial markets. With a strong economy, finance graduates who couldn't get jobs in the financial markets and investment banks could quite easily be absorbed into commerce and industry accounting jobs. Other would get middle office finance jobs in the public service, and going was good.

Then the bubble burst.

The economy went into recession mode, the financial markets shrunk and finance graduates who had taken up jobs with investment banks found themselves facing the axe, as the investment banks are the worst affected by turmoil in the financial markets. And as if on cue, companies, in a bid to cut costs, were also cutting on their head counts, thus also shaking the fortunes of the finance graduates who found commerce and industry accounting jobs in the private sector. In the midst of all this, it seems that the only secure finance graduates are those who took up middle office finance jobs in the public sector, but even this is not fear-proof for we do not know for sure what the full effects of the economic turmoil will be on civil service staffing.

So in the face of all this, what is the future of finance jobs?

It might seem counter-intuitive to say, but the future of finance jobs is still bright, in spite of the current turmoil in the financial markets. As it were, economists tell us that the current economic turmoil is largely short-term to medium term, which is to say that it won't be with us forever. Which means that the people who chose to pursue a career in finance need not regret their choice, as better times are coming. But even before the better times arrive, the people with finance backgrounds who are currently getting laid off might not find themselves in the cold for too long.

As governments unveil the various economic stimulus plans, there will be need for people to manage the money as it goes into various sectors - which translates to some finance jobs. Of course the finance jobs created in this way will be for the best brains in finance.

And then there is the fact that all companies, like human beings, have a native survival instinct, which they are likely to find handy in these hard economic times. One survival strategies for companies in crises is to hire the experts who are likely to navigate them through the particular crises. And since the current crisis is financial, the companies are likely to find themselves hiring financial experts to help them address the economic crisis. Of course, the companies are not likely to be overtly looking for finance experts to help them address the financial crises. What we are likely to see is an increase in commerce and industry accounting jobs, but the accountants so hired are bound to be almost exclusively tasked with cost and revenue management tasks, geared towards helping their employers sail through the turbulent times successfully.

And finally the good times will surely come back again. If the history of the financial markets is anything to go by, we know that all bursts are always followed by booms.

Marketing Jobs

By: Sarah Maple

The county of Surrey is situated in the South East of England and borders Greater London. This prime location for access to the capital means that over the years the county has developed as an increasingly prosperous and affluent area, leading to many important businesses and companies to establish offices and headquarters in the area. Consequently, the county boasts a number of thriving industrial sectors and marketing jobs in Surrey are particularly sought after.

Electronics is one such sector, and the county has many opportunities for marketers therein. Two major Japanese photographic giants, Nikon and Canon, have their UK bases in Surrey - alongside other key players on the electronics scene: Samsung, Toshiba, and Philips. Interactive entertainment developers, Electronic Arts (makers of The Sims and Medal of Honour), also have a base in Guildford, Surrey's largest town with a population of over 65,000 inhabitants.

Surrey is also home to some significant members of the automotive industry, as well as being a one-time motor racing destination due to the location of Brooklands near Weybridge. The racing circuit at Brooklands has since been replaced with its very own museum of motorsport and aviation history (Brooklands Museum) and is something of a tourist attraction. South Korean car manufacturers KIA Motors, and Japanese motoring giants Toyota each have head offices in the county. Racing team and organisation, McLaren, are also based in Woking towards the North West.

Fast moving consumer goods (i.e. toiletries, cosmetics and detergents) companies are also well-established in the county. Food and cleaning conglomerate, Unilever, now have their headquarters in Surrey - as well as Nestle and hygiene giants Colgate-Palmolive. Pfizer, the American drugs/pharmaceutics producers also have their UK base there, as do Sanofi-Aventis - who specialize in Cancer and Allergy medication. All boast significant marketing teams with opportunities both in and outside of the city.

Aside from the electronics, motoring and industrial sectors, it may come as a surprise that the one of the biggest sectors in which marketing opportunities are available might be horticulture. This is primarily due to the major attraction (and one of the most visited gardens in the country), RHS Garden, Wisley. Established for over a century, the garden continues to expand with the opening of a new tri-section glass house containing desert, tropical and temperate climates. Surrey is also the UK home to two environmentally conscious non-governmental organizations, the World Wide Fund for Nature and Compassion in World farming.

Types Of Business Jobs

By: M Braziel

There are a lot of different types of home assembly jobs out there. In this article, I would like to discuss the different types of home assembly jobs that are available. Below are five of the most common home assembly jobs. Though there is more out there than what is listed, these are the top five that you will most likely encounter during your search.

Sewing

Sewing home assembly jobs are typically used in making dolls, baby bibs, or other small to medium scale items. Project specifications can range from hand stitching to machine sewing. Most of the time, all materials are provided, minus the sewing machine, of course. If getting involved in such a home assembly job, I would highly recommend that you either currently own or plan to purchase a sewing machine, as it will make producing products much faster as well as improving the overall quality of your finished projects.

Miniatures

Producing miniatures can range from something as simple as cutting out miniature decks of cards (a project I personally worked on) to making dollhouse furniture. Most companies that offer home assembly employment will allow you to choose from many different projects. Thankfully, such companies also usually implement a difficulty system, letting you know how difficult and time consuming it would be to assemble each different project. What you will be paid per project also usually varies due to the difficulty level. Most, if not all supplies, are provided by the company.

Jewelry

Usually jewelry making deals with necklaces, bracelets, and pins. Think of stringing beads, occasionally having to pick up a hot glue gun, and twisting wires. That's the basis for this market. Though you would think that projects of this nature would be simple, all of the ones I have personally worked on have been rather challenging. In these types of projects, the company usually supplies all of the materials needed to assemble the items, but you must usually have to supply your own tools. (pliars, wire cutters, hot glue gun, etc.)

Envelope stuffers

Pretty self explanatory. You fold brochures and stick them in envelopes. Truth be told, there are tons of these types of companies out there, but I have yet to find a legitimate one. I almost signed up for one a long time ago, but backed down out of fear of being ripped off. From what I understand, you have to stuff a ton of envelopes in order to be paid any substantial amount of money, which makes sense. I mean, seriously, how much effort does it take to stick a piece of paper in an envelope?

Crafts

This encompasses an array of different things. In fact, the possibilities are almost limitless. I've seen everything from painting clay figures to assembling baskets. Most companies that do not specialize in a single item will usually let you choose from a number of projects separated by pay rate and difficulty level. I would recommend this if you get bored quickly, as there are plenty of different types of projects to constantly stimulate your mind.

And that is a basic overview of the most common types of home assembly jobs. There are literally hundreds of different home assembly jobs out there that are not mentioned in this article, some you would never imagine in your entire lifetime...like putting together fly fishing lures. Yes, there is really a home assembly job that does that.

My best suggestion would be to find something you'll enjoy doing. Don't focus so much on what pays the most. If you enjoy what you're doing, it makes it feel less like a job. I think that's what we all strive for in terms of working.
